Frequently Asked Questions
-
Q: Do we offer ground coffee?
A: Not usually but we do make the rare exception.
Q: What are coffee roast levels?
Coffee roast levels refer to the degree to which coffee beans are roasted. The roast level affects the flavor, aroma, and color of the brewed coffee. Different roast levels can bring out unique characteristics from the same bean.
Q:What is a "City Roast"?
A: City Roast is considered a light roast. The beans are roasted just past the first crack. They have a lighter color, brighter acidity, and often feature the original flavors of the bean. This roast level can highlight the bean's origin characteristics.
Q: How does "Full City Roast" differ from City Roast?
Full City Roast is a medium roast level. It's roasted slightly longer than City Roast, reaching a point between the end of the first crack and just before the beginning of the second crack. The beans will be darker and have a fuller body compared to City Roast, with some of the bean's inherent flavors and a balance of acidity.
Q: What is a "Vienna Roast"?
Vienna Roast is a dark roast. The beans undergo roasting until they are at the beginning or middle of the second crack. This roast level has a richer, darker color and may start to exhibit some oily sheen on the surface. Flavors can be more caramelized with decreased acidity.
Q: Is "Espresso Roast" the darkest roast available?
A: Not necessarily. Espresso roast refers to the brewing method while the roast level preferred for making espresso and can range from medium-dark to dark. Many associate espresso with a very dark roast, the actual roast level can vary based on the brewers or roaster's preference. Espresso roasts are tailored to perform well under the high-pressure brewing method of espresso machines.
Q: How does roasting time affect flavor?
A: The longer the beans are roasted, the more the sugars inside the bean undergo caramelization, leading to a darker, more robust flavor. Lighter roasts tend to preserve more of the bean's original flavors and have higher acidity. As beans are roasted darker, acidity decreases, and flavors become more dominated by the roasting process itself.
Q: Can any bean be roasted to any roast level?
While technically any bean can be roasted to any level, roasters often choose specific roast levels that best highlight the inherent characteristics of a particular bean. Some beans might taste better as a light roast, while others might shine as a dark roast.Description text goes here

Q: Can I subscribe if I live outside the US?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot ship WileyPie Coffee outside the contiguous United States. One of the most essential components of WileyPie Coffee is freshness – we want you to experience our coffee at its peak, and freshness decreases the further you ship it. We cannot ship internationally, but we will let you know if this changes!
Q: How much is shipping?
A: Nada - The shipping price is included in the subscription.
Q: How long will I be subscribed?
A: The coffee subscription will be charged every two weeks or every four weeks (depending on your subscription) until you choose to cancel it. You'll receive a billing reminder a few days before you are charged and an order confirmation when your order is successfully processed.
Q: When will my orders be shipped? When will I receive my coffee?
A: Roasting occurs every other weekend, so if it's a new subscription order, your first order will ship within two weeks, depending on where it falls in the roasting schedule. All orders will be processed and shipped from the roastery within 1-3 business days after the charge is processed. Orders typically take 4-6 days to arrive once they’re shipped.
Q: How often do you change the coffee bean varietal in the subscription?
A: The driving force behind our subscription service is to introduce our customers to the coffees we are most passionate about. It could be a coffee that’s just arrived, super fresh and tasty, or something we’re digging. While we don’t have a hard and fast rule as to how frequently the coffees change, we try to ensure some rotation every month. Since coffee is a seasonal crop harvested only once a year, there may be periods where the available variety is more limited. Consequently, certain coffee types may remain in our subscription offerings for an extended duration.
Q: Can I specify which type of coffee beans I want to receive in my subscription?
A: Unfortunately, no. You do get to choose a roast level that most closely reflects your flavor preferences, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Q: Can I add extra items to ship with my subscription?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot add one-time purchases to ship with your subscription. This is a limitation of the subscription software we’re using and something we’re trying to fix. Please check back for updates. If you would like additional coffee or items, you can purchase them separately on the One-time Purchase page. Setting up an account will help ease the burden of this unfortunate step.
Q: Can I change my subscription to a different category?
A: Yes. Log in to the account you created during your initial checkout. From there, you can make changes to your subscription, including switching to a different category (Light Roast, Roasters Choice, Dark Roast, or Decaf).
Q: How do I cancel?
A: You can cancel a recurring subscription at any time. Please note that there are cutoff times during the week, so keep an eye out for "upcoming delivery" emails—this means we're about to charge for your next delivery. Just cancel before or after receiving this note, and you’re good to go.
